Global Goals

IT ALL STARTED IN 2015...

In September of that year the world reached a consensus on a new agenda to combat poverty and inequality including seventeen goals: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This set of goals lays out the roadmap to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle the effects of climate change by 2030 - it will be challenging, but we believe it is possible.

This year presents an opportunity to bring the countries and citizens of the world together, harnessing our shared commitment to the SDGs, and embark on a new path to improve the lives of people everywhere.

As voices around the world demand leadership and action on poverty, inequality and climate, UNDP’s mission has never been more central and vital.

UNDP is the lead UN agency responsible for partnering with governments, businesses, and individuals around the globe to fight poverty and implement the SDGs. With our expertise, the strong networks we have with government, civil society and NGOs, and our ability to connect partners, UNDP plays a vital role in the the implementation and roll-out of the Sustainable Development Goals worldwide.

We are bringing our extensive programming experience to bear in supporting countries to develop their national SDG efforts, and creating an international effort to foster new partnerships and fund opportunities to support the SDGs implementation.
